What's Going On Here???
Submissions are temporarily closed, but not for long. We have a backlog of stories and updates that we will be posting shortly but we have exciting news.
We are going to a new format. Given the size of our story archive, which long ago exceeded our wildest imaginations when we started this site in 1997, we feel it's long overdue to put stories into categories and enable search so you can find what you need easily.
Even more exciting is that approved authors will be able to have their own login with the new system, if they choose, and will be able to post their stories directly rather than emailing and wating and waiting and waiting...
We apologize profusely for the delay and inconvenience. We know some of you are rightly pissed off with feeling as you've been ignored. We are not ignoring you, we love your stories and we want to make it right. Part of the problem with the old setup quite honestly is spam. It is exhausting for us to go through several hundred spam emails a day in order to get to the good stuff you send in. The new setup will be quite nice as it will eliminate spam and also allow authors to not reveal their email addresses in order to get comments. You certainly can put your email address with your story, but it will no longer be necessary in order for readers to compliment you. It will cut back on the spam you receive as well.
So, soon.. and very soon indeed we will be opening the new format and inviting authors to apply for trusted status.
You will be very pleased with the new setup as it will allow reader feedback and also social bookmarking to allow your work a wider exposure. It will work out well for everyone.
Again, we apologize and will post an update again soon to let you know how to get approval for the new setup.

and ownership - any story you choose to share with the visitors to
this free website must be your own work. When it's posted it remains your
copyright property and you retain full control over it. If you ever want
the story removed just tell us and it will be done right away. |

it short - posting stories to a website is quite labour-intensive and
at the moment we don't have much time to post very long stories or full-length
novels. So short stories/poems/shorter features or articles only
please unless you've discussed a longer submission with us first and we've
agreed to post it. |
| Format

we can work with most common formats. If you're stuck or use some particularly
obscure word-processing software, you can just send your story as either
a simple text file attached to an email, or in the body of the email
itself. |
| Style
and Presentation - The normal conventions apply. Keep sentences
short and properly punctuated. Split the narrative into sensible paragraphs
that aren't too long. Use inverted commas ( " ) to indicate reported speech.
If you've got one, run a quick spell-check on the story before you send
it because we don't check spelling. Try to make it as easy as possible
for the reader to enjoy the story. |

Matter
- If you read the range of stories and other writing already
posted here you'll find every subject from the mildest erotic spankings,
through all kinds of fetish, to sado-masochism. We're very broad-minded.
All we ask is that its interesting, original and legal. Online erotic fiction
often fails because plot and characterisation are ignored or because the
story is simply written to please or flatter an online friend. Of course
your Master or submissive is wonderful but that, in itself, isn't
really the basis for a story that'll interest other people. So explore
ideas. Write the kind of story you'd enjoy reading yourself. Take chances
and have fun. Although there clearly is a difference between fantasy and
reality, not everyone sees it. We're not legal experts and certainly we
don't want any hassles. So please don't submit stories involving
adults and children in sexual situations, bestiality, snuff or torture
or anything else similarly dodgey. If you're not sure about anything, ask |
| Publicity + Privacy
- when you submit a story or other writing it's important that you tell
us what name we should publish it under (your own or a pen-name) and whether
or not you want an email address attached so that readers can contact you
with comments. We never supply email addresses to any third party (read
our privacy policy) but anyone
can collect or write to a published email address. If you wish to keep
your primary email address private its often a good idea to set up a second
'throw-away' account (eg on hotmail) for publishing stories or anything
else on the 'net |
| Exposure
- as well as posting the stories we accept here at the BDSM Cafe we
may soon start posting some that we particularly like to our other
story site, Porn Prose, as well (if and when we get around to re-vamping
and re-launching it). Porn Prose is a completely free site, specialising
in Erotic stories of all kinds. There's a link to it here
if you want to have a look. Both sites attract different visitors, so if
we do get around to posting your story in both places you will have
a wider audience for your work. |
